I first met Michelle last year via Twitter, her name had popped up a couple of times, I’d loved features from her blog (especially this and this) and I was following her as I liked what she had to say about supporting women. One day she tweeted about needing a new work bag, and our friendship was formed.
To briefly introduce you to this inspirational lady, Michelle went from successful career, to living abroad and not able to work (due to visa restrictions); then suffering some unexpected twists and turns that turned her life upside down. Instead of letting life pass her by, Michelle fought to heal herself. Her experiences, both good and bad, have given her the wealth of knowledge and skills that she now uses to help others. She specialises in helping Busy Mamas and Busy Bloggers and on Friday we chatted business, life challenges and about tips and tricks to succeed! Here’s what happened;
Hello Michelle, it’s fabulous to talk to you, I’ve loved getting to know you over the past few months, how are you?
Hi Jen, it’s great to be here! I’m feeling very productive today with three live broadcasts across my social media channels, prepping for a session with one of my fabulous coaching clients and invoicing a new client for live broadcasting training. I’ll be switching gears soon to pick up my two kids from nursery and school then, as it’s Friday, getting ready for the weekend and our regular family dinner date (and a glass of wine too!)
On Monday I chatted to Helena Hills, co-founder of the world’s only sports specific coffee, multi award winning; TrueStart. If you missed our conversation where we chatted about launching a successful brand, staying close to your customer and trusting your gut, you can visit and read here.
Today, winner of the coveted Natwest Everywoman ‘Brand of the Future’ award, Helena Hills is back to show us what she carries in her handbag. I say handbag, Helena’s usual day to day work bag is her rather fabulous IronMan backpack! The vibrant orange and blue bag has the slogan ‘Anything is Possible’ on the front. So very fitting – I love it.
I’ve been wanting to bring back my ‘Jennifer Hamley meets’ blog series for months (maybe even a year!) but I never quite got around to it, which frustrated me because I LOVE learning from the women I get to interview. In an inspired moment just over a week ago I sent out a tweet on Twitter asking if any of the inspirational women that I follow would like to feature. I was overwhelmed with the response, fabulous women from all kinds of businesses wanting to share. I’m over the moon to kick off with one of the most inspiring women I have ever met, Helena Hills.
I first met Helena when I joined the six-month business accelerator programme Entrepreneurial Spark in February of last year. A true dynamo around the office; focused, energetic and getting shit done, I must admit, I was a little intimidated by this fabulous woman to start with. And then I spoke to her. Friendly, helpful and understanding, with the most infectious energy, she taught me that most fears are unfounded. I am absolutely honoured to count Helena as a friend and to have her here with me today to answer a few questions. Continue reading →
Two days ago my beautiful grandmother passed away. Surely I shouldn’t be so sad; her battle is over and she is no longer in pain. But still I feel like the bottom of my heart has cracked open and has emptied out onto the floor.
My grandma Lilian. OUR grandma.
Always humming a little tune to herself. She was a stylish and graceful lady – always immaculately dressed with her hair done. As loving as a grandmother could be. And hilariously terrified of daddy long legs’!
I’ve felt a long way from home the past couple of days. A long way from my grandad who has lost his life partner. From my mum who has lost her mother, from my dad and brother and sister, from the rest of my family who loved her.
I’ve not been there to give hugs or hold hands, to cry or let cry. I’ve not been there to help with arrangements or to just make tea. But I will always remember the time that she told me she admired my sense of adventure, and to keep on doing what makes me happy.
At a loss of what to do today, I took to my sketch book and thought of what perfect handbag I could see her with. Within 30 seconds I had the design in my mind, I sketched it and it came out as I see her with it in my vision.
At the end of 2016 we had such a great time seeing all of your #JenniferHamleyWish list entries (where you sent us your favourite Jennifer Hamley handbag or work bag along with £150 worth of the finest gifts that your heart did desire) and I promised then that we would hold more exciting contests in 2017.
So to bring in the New Year in style, I wanted our first contest of 2017 to showcase the goals that you have for the year ahead.
