Is it too early to make a list?

Processed with MOLDIV

Is it too early to make a list?  Never!  I love making lists of all the gorgeous things in the world at any time of year – just in case someone asks what I really want, I don’t want to be put on the spot, right?

My wish list this year has a different feeling to winters past.  No cosy warm socks, hats and gloves, no sparkly party dresses or warming alcoholic beverages.  This year my list reflects my decision to live as a Digital Nomad moving to Bali (eek and yey!).  Flights are booked for travel on the 6th December and I have absolutely no idea what to expect!

So if anyone is wondering, on my wish-list this year would be;

  1. Anya Hindmarch Space invaders Bathhurst Satchel

Anya Hindmarch is one of my most favourite designers.  Gorgeous materials, colours and luxury all blended together with a dash of humour and cleverness.  When I saw her catwalk show introducing her collection of pixelated designs, I fell in love with this python-pixel-space-invaders version of her classic Bathhurst satchel.  Also, it’s got turquoise/teal and geometric pixelated python print.  It’s to die for.  http://www.anyahindmarch.com/en-GB/space-invaders-bathurst-satchel-5050925927086.html#start=37&cgid=Bags

  1. Novella beaded kaftan from Anthropologie

When we first decided to spend some time in Indonesia (I feel so lucky that I can travel and work at the same time) I actually Googled ‘do people wear jeans in Bali’ as I had no idea what clothes to keep and what I needed to get rid of.  I swiftly started a Pinterest board of all the beautiful new floaty outfits that I will be wearing to keep cool when we get there.  This kaftan was from that board – I love the colours, it’s so dreamy.  https://www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/shop/novella-beaded-kaftan-blue#/

  1. Geometric Rose Gold necklace from Amourium

I love pale gold and pale rose gold (nothing too yellow or too pink) and I also love geometric shapes and patterns – so it makes sense that I adore geometric fine jewellery.  The blend of strong shapes, pattern and lines, with the fine detail really light me up inside.  This necklace is just one of many that I have my eye on right now.  http://www.amorium.com/sterling-silver-3d-necklace-in-rose-gold.html

  1. Michael Kors Rose Gold Adrianna I sunglasses

I can’t head off to Bali without a fabulous pair of sunglasses!  The subtly sexy cats eye shape and reflective lenses make these perfect.  Again, a pale rose gold, a trend is appearing.  http://www.sunglasshut.com/us/725125961103?cid=afk-2205077-2687457-11476261&cvosrc=affiliate.cj.2687457

  1. River Island Gold Chain Earrings

I got my first pair of chain drop earrings about 18 months ago and I just can’t get enough pairs of them.  I wear them with casual outfits or dressed up, I think it’s the fluid movement and lightness of the chains that I love so much.  Send me long chain earrings, lots of them!  http://www.polyvore.com/river_island_gold_tone_chain/thing?id=62482570

  1. Sophia Webster Evangaline gold and white leather sandals

These shoes!  Possibly not the most practical shoes to wear in Bali, but, WOW!  Just looking at them makes me happy.  I’ve always liked to wear statement shoes and when I discovered Sophia Webster I found a piece of heaven.  Much like Anya Hindmarch, she isn’t afraid to show her personality; I like that a lot.  https://www.sophiawebster.com/product/6/evangeline

  1. Khongboon Aqua and Black Chervon Bikini

Geometric pattern, check.  Turquoise, check.  Beach wear, check.  Adorable bikini that I would LOVE to wear under that Kaftan!  https://www.khongboonswimwear.com

  1. Canon 750D DSLR camera

I take A LOT of photographs, for both work and pleasure.  I’m not very good at the technical side and will always use a professional photographer when I can, but for times when I just want to capture the moment, this camera would do very nicely thank you.  http://www.canon.co.uk/for_home/product_finder/cameras/digital_slr/eos_750d/

  1. Apple 12 inch MacBook in Gold

I currently have a small laptop because I move around a lot and if I have to carry something, I want it to be as portable as possible.  Unfortunately, it is quite fat (so takes up room in my bag) and quite old, so it will need replacing one day.  I LOVE the new Macbook as its slim and weighs less than a kilo – and comes in GOLD!  Perfect.  (The rose gold version is a little too pink for my tastes)  http://www.apple.com/uk/shop/buy-mac/macbook/gold-512gb

  1. Jennifer Hamley Model KT leather work bag in Teal

The one thing on my list that I actually already have, but I wouldn’t be without it; The Model KTs in Teal.  I just LOVE the colour and fell in love with the leather long before I’d even designed the bag.  I call it my mobile office as it fits everything I need for my digital nomad lifestyle (when I get my super slim Macbook I’ll have even more space inside, right?)  It is great for travelling (on top of my wheely suitcase and fits perfectly under the plane seat) and I ALWAYS use the clutch when it’s time to finish work and head out for some fun and relaxation.  I guess I shouldn’t sing the praises of my own design I, but I do love it.  https://jenniferhamley.com/collections/model-kt/products/model-k-t-work-bag

So there we have it, my dream wish list *sigh*.  Even with the move to live in warmer climes, It’s fun to see that a bit of  winter sparkle still got in my list – I had no idea how much I loved everything gold until I put it all together.

I have an extra special announcement coming tomorrow, so do be sure to check in here and on our Facebook page.  I’ll be asking what would be on your wish-list, and maybe, just maybe we will be able to make your #JenniferHamleyWish come true!

See you tomorrow,

Win a Mini KT handbag!

We expected delivery of the Mini KT handbag in October, but unfortunately they have been delayed due to our new manufacturing partners and ourselves wanting to get everything just right.  It’s been a frustrating time and we really don’t like making our pre-order customers have to wait.  They are close though, I can’t wait to finally have a delivery date for everyone.

To keep things fun, and to thank you for your continued support, we’ve decided to hold a prize draw to win a Mini KT crossbody handbag for yourself – fancy winning?  (if you prefer, we have an alternative prize of £265 worth of Jennifer Hamley vouchers, to spend on whatever you choose – Sakura purses for everyone this Christmas perhaps?)

You can enter to win on our Facebook page here.  You get THREE chances to win; first visit the link to enter, then comment on the post to say what colour you would choose (Teal, Black or Aubergine), then share the post with your friends.  Easy peasy!

(Prize drawn by random generator on the 1st December and announced here and on Facebook, so be sure to check back to see if you won.  Prize; a Mini KT handbag in your choice of Black, Teal or Aubergine leather OR a £265 Jennfier Hamley voucher to spend on anything in our store)

Model KT Review by JWong – #MyModelKT

I woke up this morning to an email that made my day (already!)

It was from Jessica of JWong, a Canadian law student, Blogger and YouTuber living in the USA.  She made this ‘What’s in my handbag’ video and review of her Model KT work bag, which she bought during our IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign.  I just love that she is loving all the features so much already!

This video just makes me smile.  Thank you so much JWong!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE hearing about how customers are getting on with thier Model KT bags for work and travel (or any other uses!) – If you have a Model KT already and have any photos or do video reviews, I’d love to see them.  Use the hashtag #MyModelKT or send them to me directly Jen@JenniferHamley.com as I’d love to share them too.

Work and Travel – A Personal Post

It seems like it’s been a while since my last update of what is going on at Jennifer Hamley HQ, so I thought I’d share a more personal post today:

As you may know, we will be relocating to Bali for a while (‘we’ would be myself and my husband Ben, who now works in the business too – I’ll write a post introducing him soon!)  The reason for the move?  I spend 80% of my time at my laptop, so I wondered if it would be possible to explore the world whilst running the business at the same time.  I hear of all kinds of businesses run by ‘digital nomads’ every day, and as we already work with people from around the world to make the handbags a reality, little will change (apart from some time zone adjustments for our phone calls!)

I’ve have been asked how I will cope being so far from home; away from friends and family, away from the support and network of fellow entrepreneurs I have in the UK.  I believe that travel can make things new and exciting – I embrace change rather than run from it.  It opens up ideas that I wouldn’t have had sat in the same chair at the same table back home.  I am bound to my friends and family by the glorious internet, and that network will grow from meeting new people.  And honestly, if it doesn’t work out, I can get on a plane and come back home anytime.

Plans never go quite as expected, and already we have had to change our flight date.  We were supposed to fly out on the 29th October, after the delivery of the Sakura and Mini KT handbags.   Unfortunately a delay in manufacturing has pushed everything back a month (much to my disappointment, I hate to let my pre-order customers down) and we are now flying on the 6th December after the bags arrive later in November.

Never liking to do things the easy way, we moved out of our house already!  As we were flying out on the 29th October we decided to spend our last few weeks visiting friends and family so moved out early (1st September early!).  With the change of our flights we suddenly had to think fast on where to live, and have been house sitting and looking after pets for friends, friends of friends and family members.  We became digital nomads earlier than expected!  The amazing thing?  Already travel has made me more aware of new ideas, I move more quickly, and I get to work in some beautiful spaces (today’s pictures are from when we were staying in South Gloucestershire and I made myself very comfortable working in the garden ‘jungle hut’)

Today we are in the Peak District, the next two weeks will be in Cornwall.  All the time we’ll be running the business with a new picturesque view to look at over the top of our laptops.  I’m very grateful that we’ve taken the leap to live this way for a time.  I’ll keep you up to date on how it goes.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, have you worked and travelled?  Ever moved out of your house accidentally to early (!) or have any questions?  I’d love to hear them.

How to shorten your crossbody/shoulder strap to a handbag style

I recently had an email from a customer (the lovely Caroline) asking if it were possible to wear her Model KT work bag as a handbag style, hooked over her shoulder, rather than the long crossbody strap or brief case/work-bag style handle.

I decided that the best thing to do would be to make a video to explain how to do it, so here it is:  Long crossbody bag into handbag style in a few easy steps!  Opening up the Model KT to many new ways to wear.

I’d love to see pictures of the way you style your Model KT, please share and use the hashtag #MyModelKT

Feel free to email me any questions anytime, I’d love to help if I can; Jen@JenniferHamley.com
